The Importance of Sleep After A Concussion
Managing concussion recovery doesn’t need to be sexy - if you really dial in the basics after a concussion, starting with sleep, your recovery will likely go much smoother.
In the most recent Pediatric Sport-related Concussion: Recommendations From The Amsterdam Consensus Statement 2023, the stats showed that people with disrupted sleep at 10 days post-concussion were VERY likely to have a prolonged recovery (one that lasted longer than 4 weeks).
Sleep hygiene tips:
Go to bed at a consistent time.
Wake up at a consistent time.
Sleep in a cool, dark space.
Avoid screens for 60-90 minutes before going to bed.
